Summary

Product identification

BECO PROTECT PB Filter Cartridges are depth filter cartridges made of thermally bonded, melt-blown polypropylene filter material. They are designed for pre-filtration of beverages and coarse filtration of wine, beer, water, and other liquids.

Characteristics and Advantages

  • High dirt holding capacity
  • Low differential pressure
  • High chemical resistance
  • Pressure surge resistance

Materials

  • Filter material: polypropylene micro-fibers
  • End caps/adapters: polyethylene

All polypropylene materials meet FDA requirements according to 21 CFR § 177.1520. The materials ensure product-neutral filtration without adsorption or particle migration.

Operating limits

  • Max. operating temperature: 65 °C (149 °F)
  • Max. differential pressure:
    • 3.2 bar (46.4 psid) at 20 °C (68 °F)
    • 1.2 bar (17.4 psid) at 60 °C (140 °F)

Mechanical / hydraulic

  • Diameter: 63 mm (2.48 in)
  • Inside diameter: 28 mm (1.18 in)

Retention Rates

BECO PROTECT PB depth filter cartridges are available with the following nominal retention rates:

  • 0.5 µm (PB005)
  • 1.0 µm (PB010)
  • 3.0 µm (PB030)
  • 5.0 µm (PB050)
  • 10.0 µm (PB100)
  • 25.0 µm (PB250)
  • 50.0 µm (PB500)
  • 75.0 µm (PB750)
  • 100.0 µm (PB999)

Nominal Lengths

  • 9 ¾ “: 248 mm (Code 9)
  • 10”: 254 mm (Code 1)
  • 19 ½ “: 500 mm (Code 7)
  • 20“: 508 mm (Code 2)
  • 29 ½“: 750 mm (Code 8)
  • 30“: 762 mm (Code 3)
  • 39“: 992 mm (Code 6)
  • 40": 1016 mm (Code 4)

Flow Rate

Recommended flow rate values for a 10" element with water at 20 °C (68 °F) are provided in a graphical format in the official PDF, showing differential pressure across various retention rates. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.
