Summary

Product Identification

Memtrex* NY (MNY) filters are pleated filters featuring a hydrophilic Nylon 66 membrane. They are constructed with a serial membrane layer design, incorporating a large pore-size membrane layer upstream of the final membrane layer to act as a prefilter.

Available absolute pore size micron ratings are:

  • 0.1 µm
  • 0.2 µm
  • 0.45 µm
  • 0.65 µm
  • 1.0 µm

Description and Use

MNY filters are designed for superior performance and consistent retention characteristics. The Nylon 66 membranes are naturally hydrophilic, non-shedding, and do not contain leachable wetting agents. Cartridge construction utilizes thermoplastic sealing technologies, eliminating adhesives. Each cartridge is manufactured under strict production control and individually integrity tested.

Applications

MNY filters offer excellent chemical compatibility for a broad range of critical process fluid systems, including high purity water, strong solvents, and photoresists. Typical applications include:

  • Filtration of pharmaceuticals intermediates
  • Filtration of positive photoresists
  • Final filtration of beverages

Materials of Construction

  • Media: 2 layers of Nylon 66 Membrane (prefilter layer over final layer)
  • Support Layers: Polyester Microfiber
  • Core and Cage: Polypropylene
  • Endcaps and Adapters: Polyester

Mechanical / Hydraulic

Dimensions

  • Nominal O.D.: 2.75” (70 mm)
  • Nominal I.D.: 1.25” (31 mm)
  • Effective Filtration Area: 6.9 ft² (0.64 m²)

Operational Limits

  • Maximum Forward Differential Pressure: 60 psi (4.1 bar) at 70ºF (21ºC)
  • Maximum Reverse Differential Pressure: 30 psi (2.1 bar) at 70ºF (21ºC)
  • Maximum Operating Temperature: 180ºF (82ºC) at 10 psid (0.7 bar) in water

Integrity Testing Air diffusion per 10” module after saturation with clean water:

  • 0.1 µm: ≤ 50 cc/min at 40 psig (2.76 bar)
  • 0.2 µm: ≤ 50 cc/min at 30 psig (2.07 bar)
  • 0.45 µm: ≤ 50 cc/min at 15 psig (1.03 bar)
  • 0.65 µm: ≤ 50 cc/min at 12 psig (0.83 bar)
  • 1.0 µm: ≤ 50 cc/min at 5 psig (0.34 bar)

Flow Performance

Flow performance data in clean water for a 10” length filter is provided in the official PDF. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values.

Additional Information

  • Filters may be autoclaved or in situ steam sterilized (up to 257°F [125°C], 30-minute cycles) for a maximum accumulated exposure of 10 hours.
  • Filters can also be sanitized with compatible chemical agents.
  • The material meets U.S. FDA requirements for food contact under applicable regulations in 21 CFR.
  • Filters meet the test criteria for USP class VI-121°C Plastics.
  • Aqueous extracts from filters contain less than 0.25 EU/ml and typically exhibit low levels of non-volatile residues.
  • Filter cartridges are designed and manufactured for resistance to a wide range of chemical solutions; users should verify chemical compatibility for their specific application.
