Pressure Drop Determination

Pressure drop for Fulflo® Basket Strainers is determined in three steps:

  1. From the pressure drop chart in the original document, determine the pressure drop through the vessel using the known flow rate and inlet/outlet size. This chart is for water flowing through a vessel containing a clean 20 mesh basket.
  2. To determine the pressure drop for a vessel with other strainers, multiply the value from step 1 by the appropriate correction factor for the specific mesh size. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values for Water Correction Factors (e.g., 20 Mesh = 1.0, 100 Mesh = 1.7).
  3. For liquids other than water: a. Multiply the pressure drop for water (determined by completing steps 1 and 2) by the specific gravity of the liquid. b. Multiply the result of "a" by the viscosity and mesh correction factor. See the official PDF for exact tabulated values for Mesh Correction Factors based on Viscosity (SSU) and Mesh size.
